A Walkathon on World Stroke Day 2014 was organised jointly by AMRI Salt Lake & Stroke Foundation of Bengal on October 29, 2014 at Salt Lake City. Eminent Actor Pallavi Chatterjee, Chest Grand Master Dibyendu Barua and eminent footballer of the past, Manoranjan Bhattacharya joined actively among a large group of participants.
Later, a Seminar on Stroke Awareness and WSD was arranged , where among others the Presidents and Secretaries of about 25 Block Committees of Salt Lake City were present. There were interactive discussions between the audience and the speakers. The concept and theme of World Stroke Day, the nature , risk factors, signals of stroke, treatment and rehabilitation were discussed in detail.
The National TV Network (DD 7) aired the interview of Prof. D.K. Mandal, Founder-President of Stroke Foundation of Bengal in the program called SUSWASTHYA in Bengali, on World Stroke Day 2014.
Dr. A. Shobhana, Secretary of the Stroke Foundation talked on different aspects of World Stroke Day especially the Theme of WSD 2014-“ I am woman; stroke affects me” in the program for women called ‘ANWESHA” of All India Radio(National Program) in Bengali.
In a Bengali Daily ” Bartataman” an Interview of Dr. A. Shobhana on World Stroke day 2014 was published on October 30, 2014.

A Stroke Awareness Program was held on World Stroke Day 2014, 29th October in a rural School about 10 Km from Bolpur Subdivision Town of Birbhum District. This was organised by Bolpur Branch of Stroke Foundation of Bengal(SFB) and the Management Committee of the Binuria High School.. Dr. Rupak Ghosh, the President of the Bolpur Branch of SFB was the main speaker.He discussed in detail about Stroke and its devastation, especially in rural areas where awareness is so important for prevention and rehabilitation, as the scope of acute management is limited. This year’s theme of WSD ” I am woman; stroke affects me” was explained. Leaflets in Bengal on Stroke and this year’s theme were distributed. There was an important & lively interactive discussion between the participants and the speaker.
A Stroke video documentary of SFB In Bengali was shown on this occasion.
Another similar Awareness Program on WSD 2014 was organized at the Bolpur High School which was attended by students, their parents and teachers of the school. This was a grand success as many participants got their questions answered by the speakers during Question and Answer session
